Re: allegra really works for hayfever and some such
Thu, March 31, 2005 - 10:39 AMI have terrible congestion sometimes (dust and mold bring it on) and read how much Flonase helps and it does! I only use it when I am miserable. I have some herbal nasal stuff too that I try first. If I still feel weird I take a Sudafed. I can't remember the last time I took Claritin. So if I can avoid anything too strong I do. -

Re: allegra really works for hayfever and some such
Fri, April 29, 2005 - 10:18 AMNow that I've declared Allegra works for me, it no longer does! I'm in LA now and have never been so miserable with hay fever. It started with cat and mold allergies in someone's house in San Luis Obispo (I actually wheezed for the first time in my life) and morphed into major hay fever from cotton wood tree spores floating all over old-town Sacramento.
Now I'm in Redondo Beach near the ocean and I SHOULD be ok but I'm not. All night I slept fitfully with my head propped up, dreaming that I was suspended in a black pool of water. Somehow the image of water was the only thing to soothe me. -

Re: Now that I've declared Allegra works for me, it no longer does!
Tue, August 23, 2005 - 3:57 AMAmy, you are right. Any antihistamine becomes less effective after a time. I noticed this myself and asked a chemist who confirmed it was the case. So every year I find a new antihistamine. -

Tue, September 27, 2005 - 8:41 PMFor the record, I disagree about an antihistamine losing it's effectiveness. I've been using Rondec TR since I was 12 and it still the only thing that really works for me.

Re: allegra really works for hayfever and some such
Thu, May 18, 2006 - 4:13 PMI need to revive this thread!
Allegra and Claritin changed my life! I no longer have to pop 7 sudapheds when I go to a house with cats.
The problem is that they make me terribly constipated. So I stopped...taking Claritin. But then I had a bad day and I took one and I noticesd that the skin on my eyes got dry and flakey, itchy in direct corralation to the Claritin. I figure it's just drying out my whole body!
Question, doeas anyone have an antihistimin to suggest that doesn't have "constipation" as a side effect?
Please.........
