I'm going to Greece in March and need to do some research on local food ingredients to make sure my food allergies won't flare up. Is anyone aware of any sites that describe local foods in detail? My only knowledge of Greek food involves olives and feta... which is part of the reason I'm going. Anyone else travel with food allergies? How do you go about researching the food to make sure you stay safe?
For the record, I'm allergic to amaranth and coconut with anaphylaxis reactions. I'm not too concerned with coconut and I suspect amaranth is a North American plant but want to double-check. If someone sneaks amaranth in the pita mix I could be in huge trouble.
Thanks!
