Dust allergies or food sensitivities?

My husband has suffered from severe allergies since we got married a year ago. We took him to our chiropractor who tested him for food sensitivities when blood started showing up in his stool and we found out that he is sensitive to soy, dairy, wheat, and cane sugar. We went on a major diet change and it has helped his digestive issues, although he was still suffering from other pain in our apartment. Our neighbors on all sides smoked, and the smoke came through the walls, so that was another major factor, so as soon as our lease was up, we bought a house that had hardwood floors underneath carpet. We have been trying to refinish them when we can, but we both work full time jobs and the process has been very slow with lots of dust everywhere.

My question would be about the symptoms that he is experiencing right now. His legs ache every morning when he wakes up, starting in his pelvic area and moving into the back of his legs throughout the day. Also, he has lost considerable weight (We're not completely sure how much, but 30W is falling off of him and he was in a 32W before that.).

We have been living in our house for the past 7 weeks and have not been following his diet at all, "cheating" a lot, and basically eating out as our kitchen has been out of commission at the beginning and it's hard to break a habit once you start... Any suggestions? Does this sound like food sensitivies or dust allergies from all the sanding, or could it be something more serious? Please let me know!

Have you started applying any varnish or anything like that? Sounds like he may be reacting to all sorts of things, plus not adhering to the diet and probably over doing attempting to get the job done. When it comes to our health every aspect of our lives are involved.

I hate to be pushy.....Haaa, but the diet is extremely important, I'm happy to hear you've moved and I hope the hardwood floors will help, but please check out the natural [safer] products when varnishing, or you might have more problems than you bargain for. I think though it's great you've been made aware of the allergies that's the first step. So many people are suffering from chemical [allergic] sensitivities without knowing what is taking place. And the numbers are growing. If someone is showing signs of food allergies that often extends to chemicals as well. ;-)

Eating out is the worst thing you can do for a soy allergy..its in everything including the salad in most places..there are a FEW exceptions, but it takes lots of phone calls. Round table and Godfathers don't use soy flour or soy oil in their pizza dough. (they both use real olive oil)...but you have to be real careful about toppings..most prepared meats have soy as both flavor enhancer and preservative.

Olive gargen Chuicken Fettuchini is soy free..but their salad dressing is NOT, and their breadsticks are not.

All the major fast food places use soy blended oil (most canola oil is soy blended) to fry in their deep fryers and on their grill (except burger king who flame broils their burgers)

most of their salads have soy used as flavor enhancer/preservative

Chevy's pork carnitas are soy free but there yummy tortilla shells are not...

    and the list goes on

    Let's see,
    moving, sanding, changed diet......

Hmm, could be the combination of stress and allergins.
Try buying prepackaged food at a health food store so you can control the soy, etc.
Also an air filter might help with the sanding and of course a mask.

I'm concerned about his legs aching all the time. He should get that checked out if they are still bothering him. Could he have gotten bitten by a tick-thinking Lyme Disease, which I had. I still get funny aches and pains. I was on an antibiotic for a month, so if there is a wee chance he could have gotten in tall grass and bitten(or whatever), I'd get checked out. He sounds a little young for arthritis, but not rhematoid arthritis.
