I am trying to find some sort of "binder" for dredging food.

For instance, I would like to make coconut shrimp and marinated the shrimp in coconut milk but when I dredged it in the coconut flakes, they really didn't stick well.

Can egg replacer work as a binder?
SO, Finally, after years of this and getting worst, I had a friend email me an article on MCS (Mulitiple Chemical Sensitivity). It was a wakeup call! I went to a Doctor who deals with Chemical allergies (not a easy thing to do considering there are only one of them in Alabama!)

He tested me and found out that I'm allergic to Formaldehyde, Ethanol and Phenol. The Formaldehyde is my worst one. When they give me that shot, my blood pressure jumped up, panic attack, chest pains, etc.

Since then, I been on "drops". I take 7 in the morning and then as needed. I'm off of the stomach and depression mediation and my blood pressure mediation keeps getting lower doseage!

My question!!
**WHAT ARE THE DROPS AND WHAT IS THE SHOT THE DOCTOR GAVE YOU??? Please let me know .My Girlfriend suffers the same as you do.. She is starting to loose it and she is getting no help!!.. The doctors here in Sweden have no idea.. they havnt got a clue and just pass her around to the next person.
please help anyone!!!!
Any suggestions?
I should add that I am willing to pay a fee, however, since I am also a professional healer , I am always willing to do trades and would really love to manifest that sort of situation again.

Sulfite sensitivity
Sulfites are a group of sulfur-based compounds that may occur naturally or may be added to food as an enhancer and preservative. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) estimates that one out of 100 people is sensitive to the compounds. A person can develop sensitivity to sulfites at any time in life, and the cause of sensitivity is unknown. For a person who is sensitive to sulfites, a reaction can be life-threatening (anaphylaxis).

In 1986, the FDA banned the use of sulfites on fruits and vegetables that are eaten raw—such as lettuce or apples—as well as on fresh meat and poultry products. Regulations also require manufacturers who use sulfites in their processed products to list the compounds on their product labels.

Although sulfites are no longer used on most fresh foods, they still can be found in a variety of cooked and processed foods. They also occur naturally in the process of making wine and beer.

Avoiding foods that contain or are likely to contain sulfites is the only way to prevent a reaction. If you are sensitive to sulfites, be sure to read the labels on all food items. When eating out, ask the chef or server if sulfites are used or added to food before or during preparation.

Examples of foods that may contain sulfites
* Apple cider
* Bottled lemon juice and lime juice
* Tea
* Many condiments
* Molasses
* Fresh or frozen shrimp
* Guacamole
* Maraschino cherries
* Dehydrated, pre-cut or peeled potatoes

PLEASE NOTE THAT PEANUT ANAPHYLACTICS SHOULD NOT TRY THIS.

Both my sons are allergic to peanut and I was worried that, with the rate their allergy levels were increasing, at least one of them was headed for anaphylaxis. On Friday we tried the "Nutella challenge". I don't know if Nutella is available in the US but you may have something similar, it is a choc-hazelnut spread. We have several brands but need to buy the original because it contains a lot of peanut oil; some cheap imitations do not.

In the Nutella challenge. the boys tried tiny amounts of Nutella and increased to eating a whole Nutella sandwich... IN A HOSPITAL AND SUPERVISED BY AN ALLERGIST just in case of anaphylaxis. Thankfully, they had no reaction. Now they need to eat Nutella every day at home to desensitize to peanut. Their levels will be retested in July 2006, and if they are low enough, we can try peanut butter desensitization. They will then need to continue eating peanut forever - which sounds odd for peanut allergy people - but this is how to keep desensitized. And it's more convenient that avoiding peanuts, and a helluva lot healthier than anaphylaxis.

Until 5-10 years ago doctors thought peanut allergy was permanent and didn't even try desensitzation. Now it can be done. Hope this helps some of you.

My husband has suffered from severe allergies since we got married a year ago. We took him to our chiropractor who tested him for food sensitivities when blood started showing up in his stool and we found out that he is sensitive to soy, dairy, wheat, and cane sugar. We went on a major diet change and it has helped his digestive issues, although he was still suffering from other pain in our apartment. Our neighbors on all sides smoked, and the smoke came through the walls, so that was another major factor, so as soon as our lease was up, we bought a house that had hardwood floors underneath carpet. We have been trying to refinish them when we can, but we both work full time jobs and the process has been very slow with lots of dust everywhere.

My question would be about the symptoms that he is experiencing right now. His legs ache every morning when he wakes up, starting in his pelvic area and moving into the back of his legs throughout the day. Also, he has lost considerable weight (We're not completely sure how much, but 30W is falling off of him and he was in a 32W before that.).

We have been living in our house for the past 7 weeks and have not been following his diet at all, "cheating" a lot, and basically eating out as our kitchen has been out of commission at the beginning and it's hard to break a habit once you start... Any suggestions? Does this sound like food sensitivies or dust allergies from all the sanding, or could it be something more serious? Please let me know!

Transfer factor provides "immune data" collected from the mother’s own immune system and then passed on to her baby. The mother transfers valuable immunity information to be used by the new life to assist in staving off infection and disease. These powerful immunity agents have been identified and are called transfer factors. To keep your body healthy, your immune system must do three very important things each time your body comes in contact with a pathogen: First it must first recognize the pathogen as a threat to the body; second, it must then attack and kill off the threat; and third, it must remember that pathogen so that your body can rid itself quickly of it the next time it is attacked.

It is the identification process of the immune system that is so critical. If your body can identify a pathogen quickly, it can mount a response against it quickly. By transferring information from cell to cell, transfer factors serve as "teachers" of new cells, thereby ensuring a stronger immune system capable of withstanding our often harsh environment.

Two days ago my hayfever was really bad ... continuous sneezing and nose blowing, and a dry throat. Yesterday I decided it must be a cold, it seemed too severe for an allergy. Today I had the cortisone injection, which is supposed to reduce allergies for about a year.

Within two hours my "cold" had improved. It is now 8 hours after the injection and I have no allergies, the cold symptoms are almost all gone, and I havent had any antihistamine for over 24 hours (and it's almost summer here in Australia, nice dry air for the allergens to play in).

I am not suggesting cortisone cures colds, rather, that the cold was in fact an allergy. If you are interested in this treatment, please research side effects first, for example: http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/PrintablePages/Monograph/0,7765,7203%7C,00.html

It is a very small injection and doesnt hurt at the time, but there is some aching for a short time after. I am happy so far ... and so soon!.. with the results, so I hope it can help others. I hope the effects last as long as they are supposed to.

Hey All,
I posted this on another thread (below), but I want to know if anyone else has this type of allergy and what you're doing for it--besides never leaving the confines of your home, of course! Has anyone found a successful preventative measure for going out amongst the public? Has anyone found a miracle med that will fix it once the allergy attacks?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!
--Jocelyn

******
I'm actually highly allergic to fragrance. ALL fragrance. My doctor diagnosed it as "severely debilitating rhinitis" which finally got me a referral to an alergist.

Doesn't matter if it's natural or synthetic either and I'll tell you, it totally sucks. It started when I was 20 (I'm now 31) but in the last couple of years it got worse and in the last couple of months, way worse. It now takes me 2-3 days to fully recover from a direct exposure. I'm on claritin, nasacort aq, astelin and then advair and albuterol for asthma. The symtoms start as tingling and swelling in my nose, then it gets painful and then it spreads through the sinuses and wraps around my head. If it's fresh and there's no breeze to move it through the air, it will also affect the soft tissue in the back of my mouth and throat.

The medicines allow me to go out in public and deal with smells from lotions, hair products and whatever else is lightly on people. They still don't help with fresh perfume and I have to hold my breath to go down the detergent isle in the market to get my fragrance free laundry detergent (or to walk into a drugstore selling christmas trees by the front door!). At this point, i'm pretty freaked out about it. I don't go out as much as I used to. I won't get on an airplane for fear of being trapped with fragrance. I can't find medicine that either prevents it or fixes it. I can only avoid it or run when I smell something. I'll take tylenol allergy sinus type otc med when it happens or i know I'll be around a lot of people. It helps but doesn't stop it. Then I have to sleep and let my body heal itself.

I don't know what the future holds but, techically, this could kill me. Am I going to end up living in a bubble?! Everything is fragranced now. I constantly see comercials on t.v. for air fresheners and body sprays. You'd think we were living in the middle ages and didn't have running water for bathing or cleaning. I went to a bridal shower today and had to leave when the presents were being opened and there were all these scented candles and bath products. I left there 5 hours ago and my face still kinda hurts. I'm almost scared to go to the wedding now because so many people just naturally put on fragrance as part of getting ready to go out.

"One of the most troublesome fungal carcinogens found in foods is aflatoxin, produced by certain strains of the molds Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus that grow on peanuts stored in warm, humid silos. Peanuts aren't the only problem sources; aflatoxin has been found in pecans, pistachios and walnuts, as well as milk, grains, soybeans and spices. Aflatoxin is a potent carcinogen, known to cause liver cancer in laboratory animals and may contribute to the incidence of liver cancer in Africa where peanuts are a dietary staple. Aflatoxin occurs in both organic and conventionally grown foods.
I'm not telling you about aflatoxin to worry you, but to point out what foods are most likely to harbor carcinogens from fungi. (The United States government routinely tests crops for aflatoxin and doesn't permit them to be used here for human or animal food if they contain levels over 20 parts per billion.)"

I'm new here and happy to find this tribe. I've had allergies my whole life: hay fever, dust, pollen and dander are the primary culprits. I take anti-histamine regularly and that has kept the problem at bay.

A few weeks ago I started having a chronic dry cough. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with asthma. Apparently this is not the life threatening kind of asthma and the symptoms are less severe, just coughing and mild wheezing. The doctor prescribed an Advair inhaler and another type as well.

I've been using the Advair for a week or so, the coughing has resided some, but I am feeling wheezy in the chest. Also, when I work out, I can't do nearly as much as I could before.

Does anyone have similar problems? What have you done to lesson the symptoms?

The first thing I am going to do a thorough room cleaning to get rid of any dust and mold that my have accumulated...

Thanks!
Nutella contains peanut oil and I'm allergic to peanuts.

The peanut oil that Nutella contains goes through a hot-solvent extraction process which takes out all the proteins, so you are left with pure peanut oil which is generally non-allergenic. Only oil prepared by the hot solvent extraction process that is commonly used in the United States is known to be free of protein. But, of course, please consult your doctor about any health concerns you may have.

So... can anybody confirm that this kind of processing effectively makes the remaining peanut oil non allergenic?
